The 200 teaching-kit downloads and the hundred events online have both been passed. Thank you to the willing hands of Clermont-Ferrand, Saint-Vallier, Grenoble, Saint-Omer, Amiens, Bordeaux, Montpellier, Évron, Marseille and even Cambridge, who have lit up their dot on the map these past few days.
And thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your enthusiasm and your commitment to Map Day. This Wednesday promises to be a beautiful one, whatever the weather.

| | An easier map to use on a computer | | |

On the map on the home page, the details of each event now appear in a panel to the right of the map if you are browsing from a computer or a wide screen. (No notable change on a phone for the moment.)
Also worth knowing: the map with the region-by-region view offers a few filters you may find useful (sort by recent events, public events only, and so on). The new red “Share” button on each event lets you send its web address (URL) to someone close to you - by text message, for instance - and it takes them straight to it on the map. | | |

| | Public events now appear in Cartes IGN too! | | |

If you have not downloaded it yet, the Cartes IGN mobile app, released in 2025, lets you discover France differently. And Map Day is now part of it (thank you Gaël and Amaury, at the controls)! It shows the public Map Day events whose details are sufficiently complete. A nightly update brings the events onto the map. Several more will appear from tomorrow. If yours is slow to turn up, let the author of this letter know. | | |

New partners and supporters (whom we thank warmly) have joined the adventure in recent weeks. So the materials you have already printed probably do not mention them all. Our apologies - but please don't reprint everything, of course.

| | The “The Maps We Need” workshop | | |

The latest version of the workshop kit includes a facilitator's guide in A5 - provided you print it on A4, double-sided, with the “Flip on short edge” option, then gather and fold the sheets in the right order. If that sounds a little involved, a standard facilitator's guide, printed page by page, is also available.
Also, a typo had slipped into the previous version of the kit, in the number of copies of each sheet to print for a group of 8. It is in fact: - “The map I love” sheet - 10 copies per group - “The map you need” sheet - 6 copies per group

| | The “The Maps We Need” exhibition | | |

In the latest version of the exhibition kit, we have added an introductory wall label - in other words, a single page that introduces the exhibition. Doing without it is no great loss, all the more so as the QR code on each piece leads to a page dedicated to the exhibition on the website.
On another note, a sharp-eyed Instagram user pointed out that the photographs of René Coty and Vincent Auriol had been swapped on the “Presidents of the French Republic” map. Thanks to the exemplary responsiveness of its author, we have put it right and updated the resources online. If yours is already printed, here is your chance to put the Fourth Republic enthusiasts to the test and ask them to spot the mistake 😉. | | |
