Some news from the ground!

Dear all,


We haven't been very talkative these past months. So here is a short note

to try to make up for it, as a small delegation from La République des Cartes takes part in the 7th edition of the festival Le Printemps des Cartes in Montmorillon, from which the picture above is taken (See the full programme which runs until Sunday, if you fancy it).


To put La République des Cartes on a lasting footing, we are currently working on its structure, notably by seeking further partners, patrons and supporters, and by building a network of ambassadors, about which we will say more in our next calls (see below). 

All with the ambition of multiplying the events of the next Map Day 2027 eightfold or tenfold, going from 115 to 1,000.

JOIN THE MONTHLY CALLS OF LA RÉPUBLIQUE DES CARTES
­

Every first Thursday of the month, from 5 to 6 pm, we invite you to join our monthly calls. 

A chance to pick up the latest news, share your questions, comments and experience - and why not bring someone you know along for the ride.


We are adding something new from June: a guest will present their work during the first half of the call. 


>> In June, several of us will debrief our finds and favourites from the Printemps des Cartes 2026.


>> In July, Eve Ben-Haïm, geographer at Ubisoft, will tell us about her work on the cartography of video game worlds.

SAVE THE DATE: THE MAP DAY 2027 LAUNCH CALL, THURSDAY 25 JUNE, 5 TO 6 PM

So that you can prepare for Map Day 2027 as well as possible, on Thursday 25 June, from 5 to 6 pm, we will set out in a collective call how the second edition of Map Day will work, on Wednesday 3 February 2027.
