I'd like to introduce you to a project you might like: La République des Cartes - the Republic of Maps.

It is a coalition of public and private organisations set on revealing the power of maps as a democratic lever - so that everyone can take hold of them, look at the world differently, spark debate and help decide the future of our territories.

It takes shape above all through Map Day, on the first Wednesday of February: a day held across France and beyond, in the spirit of the Fête de la Musique, where anyone runs the event of their choosing - a workshop, an exhibition, a talk. The first edition, on 4 February 2026, brought together nearly 120 contributors, who ran as many events. The next one falls on Wednesday 3 February 2027, with a target of 1,000 events.
