Map Day:
a gathering to make democracy
and understand what is at stake in how we picture the world

On 4 February 2026, La République des Cartes held the first edition of Map Day, a new annual cultural and participatory event. More than 120 events were organised by public, private, educational, cultural, community and citizen actors, in France and abroad, to reaffirm the essential role of the map as a democratic tool - one that lets everyone understand, debate and act on their own territory.
