Every first Wednesday of February is Map Day: a distributed event where people come together across France and around the world - much like the Fête de la Musique - to reveal the democratic power of maps and change the way we relate to the places we live in.
You are invited to create whatever experience you like, to reveal the democratic power of maps and invite the curious - newcomers and enthusiasts alike - to discover maps and their own area from surprising, original and unexpected angles. Below are some first ideas, along with a few of the initiatives held for Map Day 2026.
To organise an event for Map Day, all we ask is that you respect the charter of La République des Cartes.
